I created this painting on the Cape one summer. We had the good fortune to be staying in a rental that had abundant light. As I allowed the canvas to tell me the story, the hand of God appeared early on. The people who appear in the ocean came one by one. This is acrylic and small glued on jewels. The hand is painted in a transparent silver.

This acrylic on canvas is called They Rise Up Singing. These little children of root and flower are born dee in the warm earth, and they trek up to the light in the spring to spread joy and flowers. My mother had this one hanging over her bed in her last year. She told me it opened up sometimes and “You can go inside.”

This multimedia piece was created in layers. Acrylic, marker, Washi tape, watercolor, glue and a few tiny jewels adorn this canvas. It hung in my mother’s room until she died in October 2021. She loved the bright colors and I loved her.
