Hello, dear reader, and happy mid-June to you. I’m popping in to say my first full-length poetry collection is scheduled for publication this fall. No exact date yet, but I’ll send out an update when I do have one.
This book has been gestating for a long time—probably a decade—and I’m excited and a bit nervous that it’s finally going to be born. Titled “Little Pockets of Glow”, it centers on my journey parenting my amazing, creative, interesting daughter who has special needs including autism.
I need to reach deep inside, find and strengthen my latent self-promotion skills in preparation for marketing the work. A big part of that will be poetry readings in and around Massachusetts and perhaps neighboring states. My first reading as a featured poet is coming this Thursday, 6/12 in Hyde Park, MA (which is part of Boston). There will be two other esteemed readers. The event flyer is below for any who may be interested.
Please know that I truly appreciate your choice to open my emails and read my stuff. An ask: If you know anyone who might enjoy my posts and/or my poetry (or the art my daughter and I create), please consider forwarding this to them. It will help me grow my small subscriber list and create a welcoming world for “Little Pockets of Glow”!
I hope you take time today to notice the beauty around you and let it lift and sustain you.
Sincerely, Melinda
