Hi there,

I just wrote a little ditty for, well,

For All the Mothers

Those whose bodies have birthed tiny beings,
those with chosen families
born from a seed in their hearts,

those who passed away—recently or long ago—
those who nurture other people’s children,
those who sing, impart life lessons,

those that grandmother, that aunt,

those who lay bricks,
make columns of numbers add up,
cook, rescue animals, repair toilets,
scale mountains, nap,

those with
anger issues, low self-esteem,
a short attention span,

those with caregiver burnout,
with arthritis, allergies,
long Covid, chronic headaches,

those with
a great sense of humor,
a musical laugh,
a ready ear or shoulder,

those who advocate,
who still send greeting cards,
make art, make dinner,
make gardens,
make poems,
make lists,

for all the mothers—
I bow to you
I thank you thank you thank you
I wish and hope and even pray
you have been mothered, too

by all these women,
not the least of whom
is you.
